June 7th proved to be a successful day for both the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Virginia Chapter and the 150 golfers from various companies and corporations throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. A grand total of $48,000 was raised to help support the Chapter's programs and services for the families and caregivers of those affected by a memory-related disorder. The six gold sponsors who helped ensure the Golf Classic's success were Litton-PRC, Hewlett-Packard, United Airlines, Share Technologies, Inc., Soza and Company and Marriott, Inc. Other corporate sponsors included Chesapeake Bus and Equipment, Grand Bahama Vacations, Arlandria and Associates, Cavalier Logistics and Sunrise Assisted Living. Closest to the pin winners, Marje Harper, Jim Cover, Ken Abod and Mike Davis each received a $300 United Airlines voucher. The longest drive winners, Laura Parker and Mark Waslo, each received a $100 United Airlines voucher. The $5,000 putting contest winner was Conor Reilly, the 12-year old son of Mike Reilly from Marriott, Inc. Elaine Ashenfelter, Albert Edwards and Margaret Copernoll were the live auction item winners. Special thanks to all golfers, sponsors, supporters and Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia for ensuring the 3rd Annual Golf Classic's success. We are already planning for the 4th Annual Alzheimer's Golf Classic. If you would like to be a part of the planning committee, please contact Tony Sudler at (703) 359-4440 ext. 103.
