Light in the Shadows: Meditations While Living with a Life-Threatening Illness by Hank Dunn, was published earlier this year. This is a natural follow-up to his previous book, Hard Choices for Loving People: CPR, Artificial Feeding, Comfort Measures Only and the Elderly Patient. In Hard Choices, Dunn looks squarely at the technological choices in medical decisions that family members must make. This practical book is helpful to anyone grappling with these issues now or preparing for them later on. Dunn's new book is insightful and goes beyond the practical issues to share what he has learned about living over the past 16 years, as a Chaplain in a nursing home and with Hospice. It is written for patients and family members. Like Hard Choices, Light in the Shadows is not a lengthy book. Its 56 pages are bound in a soft cover and include meditations and thoughts for the day. He states in the introduction, "My hope is that these words will help you live each day fully and that you can go into the future with courage and peace." Each of Dunn's books are available for $3.50 each at the Northern Virginia Chapter office. To order, please call (703) 359-4440 or (866) 259-0042.
