FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (May 13, 1999) -- Litton-PRC of McLean, Soza and Company of Fairfax, United Airlines, Share Technologies, Inc. of Sterling, Marriott Corporation and Hewlett-Packard of Falls Church are the six major sponsors of the 3rd Annual Alzheimer's Golf Classic. Masters of Ceremony include former Washington Redskin and current radio personality for WTEM Radio, Rick "Doc" Walker and Washington Redskin running back, Brian Mitchell. The Golf Classic, set for Monday, June 8, will be held at scenic Lansdowne Resort Golf Course in Leesburg, Virginia. All proceeds from the event will help to support the Northern Virginia Chapter's programs and services for the 35,000 Northern Virginia families affected by Alzheimer's disease. Corporate foursomes will tee off at 8 a.m. The six corporate sponsors have committed staff and dollars to ensuring the success of this 3rd Annual Golf Classic. Other golfing celebrities include Larry Michael, from WJFK Redskins Radio Network, and Washington Redskin long snapper, Dan Turk. One lucky winner of the live auction will receive two round-trip airfare tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S.A., compliments of Cal Simmons Travel of Alexandria. Other prizes include a Grand Bahama vacation package, compliments of Princess Vacations, several $100 United Airline vouchers, golf shirts and putters. Prizes are awarded to the top ten foursomes. 4.5 million Americans are affected by Alzheimer's disease. This number is expected to grow to 14 million Americans by the year 2050 if no cure is found.
